Overview

Commercial Coating Solutions was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive architectural respray for a prominent commercial office in Birchwood, Warrington. As part of a major refurbishment strategy, the client sought a complete aesthetic modernisation, transitioning the building’s envelope from dated white to a contemporary grey specification. The project scope encompassed all external fenestration, high-level roofline details, and the seamless integration of the internal reception curtain walling to ensure a consistent corporate identity.

Approach

We executed a meticulous spray coating program designed to deliver a factory-quality finish across diverse substrates, ensuring uniformity between internal and external elements.

Comprehensive Preparation: Adhesion and finish quality rely entirely on preparation. We undertook extensive cleaning, abrasion (sanding), and precision masking of all glazing and surrounding brickwork to ensure a flawless, overspray-free bond.

Unified Specification: We applied a high-durability architectural coating system to all external window frames, soffits, and fascias. This included the technical respraying of the internal reception curtain wall, creating a seamless visual transition from the exterior facade into the building’s entry zone.

High-Level Access: To navigate the building’s height safely, we deployed truck-mounted boom lifts. This allowed for efficient, stable access to upper-level fascias and soffits without the logistical footprint and time delays associated with fixed scaffolding.

Challenges

The project demanded the management of complex access requirements and environmental variables within a high-specification environment.

Vertical Logistics: Reaching high-level soffits and fascias required strict adherence to safety protocols. The use of powered access equipment (MEWPs) ensured we could treat hard-to-reach elevations safely while maintaining the correct spray distance and angle for an even finish.

Internal Sensitivity: Treating the reception curtain wall required surgical precision. We had to ensure zero disruption to the client’s internal space, necessitating extensive masking to protect flooring and internal fixtures while achieving a defect-free finish in a high-visibility area.

Environmental Control: Executing external spray works requires optimal conditions. We constantly monitored humidity and temperature levels to ensure the coating cured correctly, adjusting our application windows to mitigate the risks posed by variable weather.

We delivered a striking visual modernisation that has redefined the building’s corporate identity on schedule and to a high standard.
