Overview

Commercial Coating Solutions was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive exterior transformation for Rockingham Cars in Corby, a multi-brand dealership representing Fiat, Abarth, Leap Motor, and Mazda. To align with the new Stellantis Corporate Identity (CI), the facility required a major aesthetic overhaul, transitioning from the legacy “Fiat light grey” to a bold, contemporary specification. The project demanded a rapid turnaround and strict adherence to brand guidelines, all while ensuring the busy showroom remained fully operational.

Approach

We executed a precise, multi-stage refurbishment strategy designed to deliver a factory-quality finish that meets strict automotive brand standards.

Rigorous Preparation: We coordinated the removal of existing signage to access the full building envelope. The substrate then underwent a deep chemical clean using specialist degreasers to remove road grime, followed by mechanical keying. This abrasive process created a textured base essential for guaranteeing the long-term adhesion of the new coating system.

Corporate Identity Specification: Adhering to Stellantis’ design guidelines, we applied a two-coat, UV-resistant architectural coating system. The cladding was finished in RAL 7021 (Black Grey) and RAL 9011 (Graphite Black), applied to both internal and external window frames to create a seamless, high-contrast modern aesthetic.

Out-of-Hours Delivery: To prioritise the client’s trading hours, our teams operated on a flexible shift pattern. The majority of spray works were executed during evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts to eliminate the risk of overspray on stock vehicles and ensure zero disruption to daytime sales.

Challenges

The primary complexity was managing a major structural colour change within a live retail environment subject to strict operating hours.

Operational Continuity: As a high-footfall dealership, maintaining clear and safe access for customers was critical. We had to manage our equipment and exclusion zones carefully to ensure entrances remained open and the showroom environment remained professional and welcoming throughout the works.

Environmental & Logistical Constraints: Executing external spray works required careful coordination with the weather forecast to ensure optimal curing conditions. Furthermore, working unsociable hours required detailed logistical planning to ensure site security and efficient handover between our night teams and the client’s day staff.

We delivered a striking visual modernization that has repositioned the dealership as a premium automotive destination.
